Jo Thorpe studied Fine Art at Wimbledon School of Art in London .
Whilst at college Jo was picked by curator Joshua Compston to show in a group exhibition at the Benjamin Rhodes Gallery, then in Piccadilly. The artists involved created work that was inspired by craft, decoration & the domestic environment.

In 1996 Jo joined Mosaic Workshop and has worked on a variety of mosaic commissions, including a number of chapels in Westminster Cathedral. As designer and lead mosaic artist she has a client list that includes Radio 1 DJ Rob Da Bank, singer Emma Bunton and clothes label Maharishi. She has also produced work for other mosaic artists such as Tessa Hunkin and Emma Biggs.

Her talents extend to mosaic restoration and she has worked on projects for the likes of the National Portrait Gallery and the War Office.

Over the past 10 years Jo has taught mosaic making and has been teaching assistant at courses run by Emma Biggs. With this experience under her belt she has now set up her own weekend course at the highly regarded Gracelands Cafe in Kensal Green.
