Mosaic Workshop

The Perdomo family of Cuernavaca started producing glass tiles in the late 1940s.  The Mexican art scene was flourishing as a generation of exceptionally talented painters  sought to give Latin America its own creative voice. The medium of mosaic was seized on by muralists like Diego Rivera, José Clemente Orozco, and David Alfaro Siqueiros and the Perdomos supplied them with glass tiles for many of their massive and highly innovative mosaics.  The company continues this proud tradition today, supplying beautifully-crafted tiles in a range of unusual shades.

We offer a wide range of Mexican tiles and usually have stock of around 70 colours.  Most of the tiles are smooth on both sides and many feature interesting variegations or iridescent finishes.  

Tile size:  20mm x 20mm x ±3.5mm
Full sheet: 300mm x 340mm,  224 tiles
Part sheet: 150mm x 150mm, 49 tiles
Sheet coverage:  9.8 sheets per metre² (and allow extra for wastage)
Mounting: mounted on paper, which must be soaked off.  The majority have two smooth sides, but some have a ridged lower side (these ones are face-mounted).  Please check with me if you particularly need a tile with two smooth faces
