This wonderful mix was part of the Mosaic Workshop stock when I took over the business.  I don't know where it came from but the style of the vitreous tiles - slightly thicker and with a lovely bubbly texture and more definitely bevelled edges than modern tiles - leads me to believe that the mix might be at least 30 or 40 years old.    I have lots of this so it is a good economical choice if you have a large area to cover. 

These tiles are thoroughly robust and will cut just as beautifully as any modern smalti and vitreous tiles, but you will find that their size and shape is not as consistent as that of newly-made pieces.   I have washed all of these, but you may find that they will benefit from a further soak and gentle scrub before use.
